      Auditions for /The Rocky Horror Show/ - Sunday/Monday

CVLT will be holding auditions for Richard O'Brien's original musical 
/The Rocky Horror Show/ <81stSeason/rockyhorror.php>, which spawned the 
1975 cult-classic film, /The Rocky Horror Picture Show/. It's the story 
of two naive teens, Brad and Janet, who stumble into the castle of the 
lust-driven transvestite alien, Dr. Frank-N-Furter. CVLT will round off 
its 81^st season with this raucous, rock-n-roll, B-movie sendup, using 
the original 1973 script while angling musically toward the more modern 
sound of the 2000 Broadway revival.

    *Show Dates:*

*July 22 - August 20 2011*
Fridays/Saturdays at 8 PM, with one midnight show on Saturday night, 
August 6th
There will be no Sunday performances or matinées.
Rehearsals planned for Sun-Thu (generally 7 PM) starting June 5th (July 
4th off).

    *Details:*

    * ALL ROLES ARE AVAILABLE. None have been pre-cast.
    * ALL ROLES (with the exception of the Narrator) are singing roles
      and require /excellent/ singers!
    * While the show contains no nudity, most characters appear at some
      point either in underwear or fishnets or a combination thereof, so
      you must be comfortable with your body enough to appear in this
      attire. Additional costume or stylistic considerations for
      specific characters are noted below.
    * This is /not/ a staged version of the film (the musical came
      first) and therefore characters in the musical may differ
      considerably from their movie counterparts. Auditionees need not
      "look the part" based on the film version of a character to be
      considered. Only Rocky must be a specific "type".
    * All auditionees must be 18 years or older.


    *Roles:*

    * The Criminologist (a.k.a. Narrator)
    * Dr. Frank-N-Furter - will wear corset, fishnets and heels
    * Brad - will wear 'wife beater' undershirt and boxers, as well as
      corset, fishnets and heels
    * Janet - blonde/blonde wig, bra and slip, then corset, fishnets and
      heels
    * Riff Raff
    * Magenta
    * Columbia - pink or red wig/sprayed/dyed hair, corset, fishnets and
      heels. /Tap dancing experience preferred!/
    * Rocky - must be in athletic physical condition, and comfortable in
      underwear, as well as corset, fishnets and heels
    * Eddie/Dr. Scott - these roles may be played by one actor or two,
      depending on auditionees
    * The Phantoms -  the hardest working ensemble in show business!
      These men and women are in /every musical number./ Depending on
      turn-out, we are intending to cast just 4-6 men and 4-6 women, so
      you must be fierce singers who can also move well. The Phantoms
      also interact with the audience a lot. If you are generally cast
      as a lead in a show, you are exactly the caliber of performer we
      need for this ensemble. Two of the female Phantoms will serve as
      the Usherettes, and will sing /Science Fiction/Double Feature/ at
      the start and end of the show.


    *Preparation:*

    * One 1950's era rock and roll song that shows your range.
    * One sexy or sultry number -- can be upbeat or ballad.
    * You must supply your own sheet music (a pianist will be provided).
      No acapella or CDs.
    * Please bring a photo of yourself (head-shot or other close-up) and
      acting resume (if you have one).
    * Initial auditions will consist of singing only. Dance auditions
      and reading from the script will take place at callbacks.
    * Depending on the turn-out, you may be asked to sing something from
      the /Rocky Horror/ score at your initial audition or at callbacks.
