Heads Up Productions

Announces

Training Workshops

(For Immediate Release…Akron, OH) First Grace United Church of Christ
is hosting Heads Up Productions for training workshops every Wednesday
in April! (Dates are: April 6, 13, 20 & 27.) Workshops start at 6 pm
and end at 8 pm. Prices are $10 per workshop, due at the beginning of
each session. Payment can be made in the form of cash or check.
Credit cards not accepted. Attendance at all four workshops is highly
recommended but not necessary. Registration can be completed through
Heads Up’s website: wwww.headsupproductions.net/workshops-and-classes

Participants who register and pay for all 4 workshops at the first
session will receive 2 free tickets to Heads Up’s performance of
Corpus Christi by Terrence McNally that runs April 21-23 at First
Grace United Church of Christ. All participants who attend the April
6 workshop will be invited to watch that evening’s Corpus Christi
rehearsal from 8-11 to see Heads Up’s work methodology.

Workshops are appropriate for performers of all backgrounds (including
actors and dancers) and directors ages 16 and above. The training is
rooted in physical theatre techniques and ensemble building. These
workshops will provide an introduction to and foundation in The Suzuki
Method of Actor Training and the Viewpoints.

The Suzuki Method was developed by Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki
and develops the actor's inner physical sensibilities, builds the
will, stamina and concentration. By developing the body awareness of
the corporal center, and a consistent level of energy, primary
elements of the actor's awareness are heightened. The best and most
consistent evidence of this work is apparent onstage reflected through
an increasingly centered and controlled actor.

Master Director Anne Bogart adapted the Viewpoints from Choreographer
Mary Overlie. The Viewpoints are ways to examine the actors’ tools of
Time and Space when creating a performance. They quickly create a
common vocabulary between ensembles.

The workshops will be lead by Artistic Director Benjamin Rexroad and
Assistant Artistic Director TJ Jozsa. Rexroad has trained with Anne
Bogart and SITI Company during their 2010 Summer Intensive.

Visit www.headsupproductions.net for more information or to register
for the workshops.
