Calling all Musicians
The Main Stage will feature musicians throughout the afternoon and
evening, bringing together some of the best artistic talent in
Northern Ohio--live bands and soloists from folk, jazz, rock and
musical theatre. The MusicFest finishes with the TrueNorth Chorale and
Symphony, under the direction of Rick Fortney, performing A Grand
Night for Singing, a musical revue showcasing the music of Richard
Rodgers and the lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein, serving as a musical
prelude to the fireworks; they then will conclude with Patriotic
Favorites accompanying the firework celebration. A Grand Night for
Singing first hit the Broadway stage in 1993. The show features
favorite show-tunes from Broadway's Carousel, Oklahoma!, The King and
I, South Pacific, Cinderella, The Sound of Music, Flower Drum Song,
State Fair, and other Rodgers and Hammerstein classics. The fireworks
celebration will begin with America the Beautiful while the
presentation of the colors and the folding of the flag occur. Veterans
and active military members and their families will be recognized in a
time of remembrance. Fanfare for a Common Man, When the Saints Go
Marching In, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Washington Post March, Stars
and Stripes Forever, God Bless America and other favorites will be
performed by the TrueNorth Chorale and Symphony as the sky lights up
in celebrating the freedom we all share.
Calling all Artists, Jugglers, Street Musicians
On the Kid's Stage TrueNorth and a local DJ will lead kid's games
throughout the day (bubbles, Hula Hoops, BIG sunglasses, and so
forth). Magic, dancing and singing will be enjoyed by all! Face
painting, balloons, clowns, Fun Bouncer's Bounce Castle and Slide, and
Art-in Action activities all will keep the kids busy and engaged
throughout the day. Art-in-Action is sponsored by TrueNorth. Artists
assist kids and their families in shaving cream art, stringing beads,
creating handprints on cardstock, and tons more fun activities.
Calling all Artists
Over 40 Artists will be participating throughout the day including
exhibits and demonstrations of ceramics, glass artists, jewelry-
making, watercolors, oil and acrylics, markers, fiber and fabric art
and photography. All local artists are invited to be a booth
participant. Artists can register by downloading the Artist
