Brecksville Little Theatre Celebrates 70 Years of Entertaining

Since 1941 Brecksville Little Theatre has staged more than 200 plays and musicals.   In addition, over their seven decades, the group has produced many dinner shows, childrens’ theatre and special presentations throughout the area.   A special revue entitled “Celebrate! -- 70 Years of Theatre and Counting” will be staged in April and May to complete a season of revivals and reminiscences to celebrate these 70 years of continually entertaining and serving the community.

The revue is the creation of Ruth Wheaton, a long time member of Brecksville Little Theatre  and veteran of Cleveland area theatre.  Musical director is Gail Wirick and Choreographer is Jennifer Rolson.  Producers are Ken and Georgia Maresh.  A cast of over 30 actors, many recreating their original roles, will also sing and dance their way through excerpts of favorite shows presented during the seven decades.

“Celebrate! – 70 Years of Theatre and Counting” opens on Friday, April 22nd and runs April 23-29-30, May 1, 6, 7, 8 13, 14.  Curtain time for evening performances is 8 pm.  The two Sunday matinees on May 1 and May 8 begin at 2 pm.   Author and Director Wheaton says audiences should note that there is a performance scheduled for Mothers’ Day, May 8th.  This date has been unintentionally omitted from previous publicity notices.

The revue will be performed on the Old Town Hall stage, located on Brecksville’s town square, Routes 21 and 82.  The Old Town Hall is handicapped accessible.  Seats are reserved and reservations can be made by calling the box office, 440-526-4477, or via the theatre’s website, www.brecksvillelittletheatre.org.  Door admission is $10.  Discounted group rates are also available.  For more information about the current show, or the Brecksville Little Theatre in general, questions can be directed to the 24-hour box office, 440 526-4477.

Rounding out the season and sharing a momentous year with the City of Brecksville, in June Brecksville Little Theatre will present the City ‘s Bicentennial production of “The Music Man” in conjunction with the City, BrecksvilleTheatre on the Square, Broadview Heights Spotlights, The BBHHS, and other community organizations.
