About us
Many community choirs and churches do not continue their choral
activities through the Summer. Although some choristers may leave the
Akron area during this time, many stay and want to keep singing. To
provide for all of these interested singers from the Greater Akron
community of church, community, and professional choirs, a new
ensemble was created: Akron Summer Singers, directed and founded by
Zachary Siler functions serves the choral needs of Greater Akron, June
through August.
The focus of Akron Summer Singers is singing masterworks from the
choral-orchestral repertoire, meeting new people, serving as a bridge
to the various choral groups of Greater Akron, and to just have fun!

Rehearsals
Rehearsals for Akron Summer Singers are held Sundays 3:00-5:00PM
June-August at Akron First United Methodist Church 263 E. Mill St.
Akron, OH 44308. All are welcome, just come and give us a try!

Repertoire
Repertoire for the Summer 2011 season includes Gloria RV 588 (The
other Gloria) by Antonio Vivaldi, When David Heard by Eric Whitacre,
Song of the Open Road, by Norman Dello Joio, and Cantate domino for
triple chorus by Jacobus Handl.
