FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Urinetown opens at Rabbit Run Theater

"Nothing can kill a show like too much exposition."

"How about bad subject matter?"

"Well,"

"Or a bad title? That could kill a show pretty good."

So begins the opening scene in Rabbit Run Theater's Young Adult Production,
the uproarious funny Urinetown.

Filled with tongue-in-cheek humor Urinetown tells the story of a Gotham-like
city, that has suffered a 20-year drought causing city officials to ban
private toilets to conserve water. Citizens are forced to use public
restrooms regulated by a malevolent corporation, who charges too much for
one of life's basic necessities. From the poverty-stricken masses emerges a
hero who falls in love and insights revolution.

Urinetown, with music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann, book and lyrics by Greg
Kotis, opens Friday, July 1, and runs through Saturday, July 9.

Scott Posey, head of the Performing Arts Department at Lake Catholic High
School, directs the show with Eddie Carney serving as musical director.
Choreography is provided by Sarah Clare.

"Urinetown has something for everyone; from the first-time audience member
to the most savvy musical theater buff," said Posey. "This musical is both
a political satire and theatrical parody but with a storyline that is still
one of human truth...both the good and the bad."

"It has been a delight to work with both the cast and production team. It
has truly been a collaborative and creative process. This cast is
incredibly hardworking and giving, and it is clear that they care for each
other and this production."

All the roles in the production are performed by actors 21 years of age or
younger. Michael Crowley, a recent Lake Catholic High School graduate,
plays the lead male role, Bobby Strong. Crowley is a veteran thespian
having performed in numerous productions at Lake Catholic and Rabbit Run.
He is pursuing a musical theater major in the fall. The lead female role of
Hope is performed by Emily Jeppesen, a musical theater major at Ashland
College.

Local community theater patrons may recognize Pat Fagan as Caldwell B.
Cladwell. Fagan has held many roles at area theaters including Fine Arts
Association, Geauga Lyric Theatre Guild and Rabbit Run. Mentor High School
grad Matt Super portrays Officer Lockstock and has appeared in a number of
recent Rabbit Run productions.

Performances of Urinetown run July 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and 9. Tickets are
$19/adult and $17/senior, student. Tickets are available by calling the box
office at 440-428-7092 or online at www.rabbitrunonline.org
<http://www.rabbitrunonline.org/> . Box office hours are Wednesday through
