Beck Center for the Arts 
announces auditions for 
David Mamet's Race.
 
Beck Center for the Arts will open another exciting Studio Theatre season with the area premiere of David Mamet's explosive new legal drama Race. Straight from a Broadway triumph Mamet pushes America's conversation about race to a whole new level when two law partners are faced with defending a prominent white businessman accused of raping a black woman.  Audiences are in for a wild ride when Mamet's rapid-fire dialogue challanges
all our beliefs.
 
Four mature, highly experienced actors are required to bring this demanding script to life. The play calls for 2 White actors (40's) 1 African American actor (40's) and 1 African American woman (20's) 
 
The roles are:
Henry Brown:     An African American lawyer, 40's
Jack Lawson:     His partner, a white lawyer, 40's
Charles Strickland:     A very successful, prominent businessman, 40's or older.
Susan:     A bright, young lawyer, African American woman, 20's
 
Director Sarah May will see Equity and non-Equity actors on Sunday, July 10th, 6:00-8:00PM and Monday, July 11th, 7:00-9:00PM. Actors will be asked to read from the script.
(Actors new to the area who are not known by Sarah are encouraged to prepare  a short contemporary monologue as well.)
 
Race opens in the Studio Theatre on October 21st, and runs weekends through November 13th. Rehearsals will begin September 19th.
