[NEohioPAL] HAIRSPRAY Auditions - Players Guild Theatre of Canton - July 18/19th

The Players Guild of Canton opens its2011-2012 season with the award-winning Broadway musicalcomedy "HAIRSPRAY"  based on John Waters’ film classic.  Hairspray will run for 12 performances September 9th-Oct 2nd.




AUDITION INFORMATION:

ALL ROLES ARE OPEN. Auditions will be held on Monday July 18th and Tuesday July19th. at The Players Guild Theatre, located at 1001 Market Ave N, Canton, OH44702. Callbacks will be held on  Thurs. July 21st, and willconsist of singing and reading from the script aswell as dance/movement. Those asked to attend callbacks should arrive preparedand appropriately dressed for dance/movement. 

Those interested in auditioning should prepare 32bars of music similar in style and character to Hairspray. (Please do notprepare a song from Hairspray) and bring sheet music in the correct key for theaccompanist. Actors should also bring a current headshot and resume. 

PLEASE BE EARLY! You will need to fill out anapplication prior to your audition. The director, choreographer, and musicdirector will audition approximately 12 people per hour. Walk ins arewelcomed, but will have to wait for an available time slot to audition.Appointments are preferred.

REHEARSALS will begin on July 25th and run 5 nightsa week for 6 weeks. Days and rehearsals times TBA.

SHOW DATES: September 9th - October 2nd. 
(Shows are Fridays/Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at2:30pm)

Hairspray is the story of Tracy Turnblad, thelovable plus-size heroine in the 1960’s as she dances her way to a spot on thelocal TV dance program, “The Corny Collins Show.” Overnight she is transformedfrom a pudgy outsider to a teen celebrity. Tracy uses this celebrity tointegrate the show while kicking the program’s reigning princess to the curband winning the heart of Link Larkin. This show is musical comedy that makes aclear statement about integration in an era of inequality and strained racerelations.
