Hudson Players Announce Their 67th Season of Award Winning Theater!

Hudson's Community Theater Announces Schedule for 2011-12. Season Tickets
Now Available!

The Hudson Players, Hudson's long running, award winning community theater,
officially announces their 67th season of high quality shows at a local
price. They begin the year in November by playing off the Mayan calendar
with the great apocalyptic comedy, Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar &
Grill, continue with the new, fun, audience focused Bingo The Musical, and
concludes with the classic musical story, The Secret Garden. In addition,
the group will offer two holiday offerings from different sides of the
spectrum - one Christmas naughty and one Christmas nice. For Christmas
naughty the Hudson Players will present The Eight: Reindeer Monologues a
humorous, edgy adult oriented holiday saga and for Christmas nice they will
present The Largely Literary Theatre Company's production of their three
actor version of A Christmas Carol .

Season Tickets are currently available at <http://www.hudsonplayers.com/>
www.hudsonplayers.com and include tickets to all three main productions for
$28 (that's three shows for the price of two) along with the opportunity to
purchase tickets to the holiday productions for the reduced price of $10
from their normal price of $14.

"The Hudson area is a great supporter of the arts and we are looking forward
to another great season," says Gary Maher, Hudson Players spokesperson.
"With a dinner and show package available in conjunction with Hudson's
Restaurant and our great season ticket package delivering our three main
shows for the price of two, we continue our goal of bringing affordable,
quality theater to the Hudson area."

The players also host many group outings and fundraisers with available
onsite meeting rooms, private pre-show receptions and parties and group
ticket rates.

The 67th Season will start out with "Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar &
Grill", a laugh out loud apocalyptical comedy by Bruce Graham being
presented November 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 & 19, 2011. This interesting comedy
ponders the question you have one day left on earth, what would you do?
Forget mass hysteria and anarchy in the streets, if your name is Shep and
and you tend a bar in western Pennsylvania, it's one last day of business
and some rather odd decisions. Intelligent and humorous everything is kept
low key. We zero in on a well defined group of strangely upbeat small town
folk ass they unceremoniously and humorously come to grips with their
impending doom...then God walks into the bar. Yes, it sounds like the setup
for a bad joke, but that's what happens..or is it? He approaches Shep with
an offer that is out of this world - funny, witty and intelligent with a
surprisingly upbeat end.

Next up are the polar opposite holiday productions that bring Christmas
naughty and Christmas nice. First up is The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, by
Jeff Goode being presented December 2 & 3, 2011. This adult oriented holiday
production provides some unknown background on Santa straight from the
mouths of his reindeer. All those rumors you heard about him and the elves?
About Vixon's story? About Rudolph? They've all been leaked to the press and
now the reindeer are talking. The dark comedy will have you rolling in the
aisles during the show and talking about all the topical issues it stirs up
later. A cross between Scrooged and The Accused, the Eight provides an
alternative to those adults looking for something different this holiday
(contains adult language and situations).

Alternatively, on the Christmas nice side. The Hudson Players will present
the Largely Literary Theatre Group's special three actor production of A
Christmas Carol on December 16 & 17. Adapted and directed by Mark Dawidziak,
this 90-minute play in two acts beings with the premise that we have
gathered to hear Dickens himself give one of his popular readings of the
story about the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge. As the "reading" progresses,
Scrooge appears. Almost all the other roles - men an women, ghosts and
mortals - are played by a single third actor, with Dicken's moving in and
out of the action as a third voice as needed. This has been an area favorite
for years and The Hudson Players are pleased to bring this production to
Hudson. It's a not to be missed holiday classic. Also, while not part of the
season ticket package, season ticket holders will receive reduced rates on
attendance to both these great shows.

Following will be a production of the zippy, fun, new musical comedy Bingo:
The Musical to be presented February 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 24 & 25,
2012. Written by Michael Heitzman, Ilene Reid and David Holcenberg, Bingo is
"a winning new musical" that allows audience members to play along with the
game of chance. Bingo mixes character songs, quirky contestants, romance and
rivalry into an interactive, presentational contest - all during a fierce
hurricane. Yes, at times the audience even gets to play Bingo as part of the
game at Hamerin County's St Luke's Church basement weekly game where they
will meet, among others, Vern, Honey and Patsy: three pals that have driven
through Hurrican Dora in the name of their weekly obsession. In between the
number calling, strange rituals and fierce competitions, love blossoms and
estranged friends reunite, sending everyone home a winner. A fun, cheerful
and witty new show with songs to bring down the house!

Finally the Hudson Players 67th season will finish up with a production of
the Tony Award Winning soaring musical journey "The Secret Garden." Running
April 27, 28, May 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 18 & 19 of 2012, This classic story by
Marsha Norman with music by Lucy Simon is the winner of three Tonys
including best book! Set in a lonely manor house in 1906 England, it tells
the story of Archibald Craven who yearns for his beautiful, late wife. He
blames his crippled son Colin for her death but soon their world is turned
upside down by young Mary Lennox, a rich, spoiled child, who is sent to live
with them following the death of her parents. While living at the manor
house, Mary discovers a secret walled garden hidden in the grounds and
releases the magic and adventures locked inside, changing their lives.

Single show tickets are only $14 each with group, senior and student
discounts available. Fundraising opportunities are also available for
interested organizations along with group rates. Season sponsors are still
