Voices of Solon Community Chorus announces a vacancy for the position of
Music Director beginning September 2011. Qualified applicants should have a
strong background in ensemble performance and vocal conducting, as well as
completed degree studies for a Master of Music (Doctoral experience a plus)
and demonstrated keyboard competency. Applicants must be available for
weekly rehearsals on Monday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The position
of Music Director is paid through a stipend and requires a nine month
commitment.



Candidates will work closely with Solon Center for the Arts to develop a
nurturing and educational ensemble environment. Interested applicants should
be enthusiastic to work with developing musicians of all abilities.
Additional position responsibilities include planning repertoire for the
season, participating in audition days and recruiting efforts, coordinating
sectionals and assisting in ensemble management.



Voices of Solon, having performed its premiere concert in April, is an
exciting opportunity for talented local singers as they combine to perform
popular works from the secular vocal repertoire. Past performance highlights
have included John Rutter’s “The Sprig of Thyme”, Morten Lauridsen’s “Sure
on this Shining Night” and Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies”, accompanied by
members of The Cleveland Orchestra and Solon Philharmonic Orchestra.
