I am currently recruiting ushers for the first Dobama production, Grizzly
Mama, which runs from September 6 to October 2, 2011.

If you are interested in volunteering for Dobama, here is a list of the
positions that I need for each show:

1. Box Office: one person needed to assist in the box office – giving out
will-call tickets to patrons
2. Concessions: one or two people to be positioned at the concession
table to sell drinks & snacks, and pour wine (and ask for donations)
3. Tickets / programs: one or two ushers to be positioned at the theatre
door to take tickets and provide programs
4. Seater: one usher to help patrons find seats, especially at sold-out
shows (there are no assigned seats - all shows have general admission)
5. Greeter: one usher to be positioned upstairs to great patrons, and
also direct them to the box office & theatre

These are the dates & times for the first production, Grizzly Mama, that
we still need help:

Open Dates

Saturday, Sept 17 - 6:30pm
Friday, Sept 23 - 7:00pm
Saturday, Sept 24 - 7:00pm
Sunday, Sept 25 - 1:30pm
Thursday, Sept 29 - 6:30pm
Friday, Sept 30 - 7:00pm
Saturday, Oct 1 - 7:00pm
Sunday, Oct 2 - 1:30pm

There are 5 main shows this season, each running 3-4 weeks, and a few
extra events where we will need ushers. If you become an usher, you will
be notified a few weeks in advance of each show.

A few details for ushers:

1. Dress: Ushers are requested to dress in black and white clothing – mix
and match as you choose.
2. Arrival & Time Commitment: Ushers will need to arrive 1 hr prior to
the opening time of the show – ushers will gather in the conference room
and may be asked to help prepare programs for distribution; Ushers are
required to stay through the intermission
3. Watching the Show: Most of the time ushers will be allowed to find a
seat and watch the entire show. However, if there is a sold-out house,
and there is not enough seating for ushers, you will be given a comp
ticket for another performance (preferably on Thursday or Sunday).
Because of this policy, you may want to usher early in the run and use
your comp on a later date.

If you have questions about ushering, or if you would like to sign up for
a particular show, you can e-mail me at lberenson at dobama.org. Please let
me know the following information:

• specific date(s) and times you are willing to usher
• which position(s) you can do – box office, concessions,
tickets/programs, seater, greeter
• your e-mail address and phone number, and the best way to reach you

If you know of someone else who would like to usher, please have them
e-mail me.

Thank you very much, and I look forward to working with you soon.
