*POSITION TITLE:*  TECHNICAL DIRECTOR



The Players Guild Theatre, a professionally staffed, volunteer-based
theatre, seeks a Technical Director.  Located within the Cultural Center for
the Arts in Canton, OH, the Players Guild produces an 8 show season of
musicals and dramas in two theatres; the Mainstage, a proscenium theatre
which seats 480, and the William G. Fry Theatre, a three-quarter thrust
theatre which seats 140.  The Technical Director is responsible for all
physical aspects of the theatres, including building sets, technical
direction of productions, purchasing supplies for set constructions,
lighting, sound and props.  The TD will be responsible for hiring and
supervising contract laborers, supervising and assisting Lighting Designers,
and soliciting and supervising volunteer crews.  Qualifications include:  A
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, or an undergraduate college degree
in a related area or a combination of academic and professional experience
demonstrating required skills. Individual should possess:  Technical
knowledge of all aspects of theatre-lighting, sound, carpentry, welding,
properties, rigging, scene painting and drafting; strong organizational
skills; excellent communication skills; a calm demeanor; strong analytical
and problem solving skills; ability to multitask and work at a fast pace
with minimal supervision; a commitment to excellence and superior customer
service; ability to meet deadlines and work in a high-pressure atmosphere;
must be familiar with OSHA regulations and Theatre Safety; and must have a
competent understanding and familiarity with scenic design.  Design and
drawing skills are preferable.  Individual must be able to lift 50 lbs. and
climb a ladder in excess of 12 ft.  This position requires working extended
hours, some weekends and evenings.



Full time position is available immediately.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
