AUDITION DATES 
 
·         Wednesday, September 14 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm
·         Thursday, September 15 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm
 
 AUDITION PREPARATION
 
·         Karamu House is looking for teens thru young adults, 10 yrs old and 
up,  all nationalities are welcome. Please prepare a memorized one minute 
contemporary monologue OR you can read from the play that will be provided at 
the audition.

ABOUT THE PLAY
From the story by Washington Irving Here is the spooky and classic story by 
Washington Irving, presented with all the thrills, chills and laughs that keep 
young audiences on the edge of their seats. The storybook tale revolves around 
the main characters—the bumbling, awkward schoolteacher, Ichabod, the coquettish 
Katrina and Ichabod’s brutish rival, Brom Bones. True to the spirit of the book, 
this adaptation is fast-paced and full of action, saving the best for last…the 
ride of the headless horseman. 

 
REHEARSALS
There will be 4  weeks of rehearsals. Rehearsals will be selected (based on 
availability of the cast) on evenings, and weekends,  3 - 6 times per week. 

 
COMPENSATION:There are no stipends for The Youth and Young Adults Series
 
ROLES AVAILABLE(descriptions copied from the published script)
 
 
ICADOD CRANE – the lanky pompous schoolteacher from Connecticut.
 
KATRINA – a coy and plump young charmer, the subject of Icabod’s and Brom Bones 
adoring affection.
 
BROM BONES – Ichabod’s roaring, roistering rival
 
WASHINGTON – also plays Storyteller, Van Tassel, Sleepy Hollow Boy.
 
IRVING - also plays Storyteller, Van Ripper, Headless Horseman Sleepy Hollow 
Boy.
 
PETER - also plays Storyteller,Sleepy Hollow Boy.
 
EMILY - also plays Storyteller,Lady in Tea Scene.
 
CHARLOTTE - also plays Storyteller,Lady in Tea Scene.
 
JUDITH - also plays Storyteller,Lady in Tea Scene.
