Participation is voluntary; no Cleveland City Dance student is required to perform. A parent or guardian must attend a mandatory meeting while the dancers audition.

How does the casting work?
The dancers are separated into one cast. The casting is balanced by the number of dancers needed for each dance and the sizes of dancers needed for those dances, which includes costume considerations. Certain dances such as the Gingers require smaller dancers with 1 taller dancer.  Waltz of the Flowers requires dancers on pointe at an intermediate to advance level.
