On Monday, September 12 at Dobama Theatre, Christine Howey will read
from her new book of poetry titled "If You Find Yourself Submerged In
a Pond Under Ice," published by Kattywompus Press. The reading will
begin at 7:30 PM and last about an hour, followed by a reception.
Admission is free. The slim volume of poetry deals with Christine's
journey as a transgendered person. Copies will be available for
purchase ($12). The reading will also feature other poems Christine
has written, many humorous, covering a variety of topics.
This will be Christine's first time back on a Dobama stage since 1984,
when she played John Halder in "Good" by C.P. Taylor. She performed
for years at Dobama in roles that included Richard Nixon, Robespierre,
Josef Goebbels, Lucifer and God.
Christine Howey has been a theater critic in Cleveland since 1995 and
is currently the theater critic for Cleveland Scene while freelancing
for The Plain Dealer and Cleveland Heights Patch. Her theater review
blog, Rave and Pan, has been covering local theatrical productions
since 2008.
