All aboard: Coach House opens the season with 'Shipwrecked!'

September 29-October 16, 2011

$12 Preview Performance, Thursday, September 29 only

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies' 2007 play Shipwrecked!
an Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as told by
himself) sails on stage to Akron's Coach House Theatre September 29-October
16.

Shipwrecked!, Coach House's 84th season opener, tells a Victorian gentleman
and seafaring wanderer's amazing story of bravery, survival and celebrity.
Are Louis deRougemont's wild tales of sea serpents, native princesses, and
pirates all real, or just in his vivid imagination? Shipwrecked! is Louis'
story of the high seas, populated by exotic islanders, flying wombats, giant
sea turtles and a monstrous man-eating octopus. Louis' fantastical tales are
supported by two Players who play 10 and 15 roles, respectively, and two
Ensemble members who wrangle costumes, props, puppets, and radio-theatre
style sound effects.

Shipwrecked! will be presented September 29-October 16. Curtain times are
Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.
Dinner or Brunch is available to all theatre patrons prior to every
performance at the Akron Woman's City Club next door. There will be a
special $12 preview performance Thursday, September 29 only, at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $18, and $15 for students. The box office opens one hour before
the show. Coach House Theatre is located at 732 W. Exchange Street, in
Akron, next to the Akron Woman's City Club, and at the corner of W. Exchange
and N. Portage Path. Tickets may be reserved online at
