*SONG FOR CORETTA *
*by Pearl Cleage. *
*Directed by Margaret Ford-Taylor.*
*Inspired by the long line of mourners at the Ebenezer Baptist Church paying
their respects to Mrs. King, Cleage's play introduces 5 fictional women,
aged 17-57, who find laughter and hope while waiting in the rain to say
goodbye.*
*
*
*"......a lovely, image-soaked testament to the civil rights icon seen
through the random eyes of a handful of fictional mourners who have lined up
to say goodbye to the beloved Mrs. King…brims with wit, personality and
life-affirming energy." —Atlanta Journal-Constitution.*
*
*
*ROLES: **(All roles are African American women)*

*
*
*LOWER NINTH *
*by Beau Willimon. *
*Directed by Celeste Cosentino*
*Two men and a corpse are stranded on a roof after Katrina. EZ is a
rebellious young man. Malcolm is a reformed addict who has found strength
through religion. Sharing the roof with them is the corpse of Lowboy.
Lower Ninth is an exploration of faith, survival and mutual redemption.
This play gives power to a desperate kind of hope.*
*

*
*

"Few modern plays are so completely theatrical. Even in silence, the show
feels alive, because Willimon and the creative team offer more than just
dialogue and psychological conflict. They create a miniature universe in
which every detail throbs with meaning.

 And the meaning evolves."
