An Evening of Barbershop in Solon November 4, 2011
Solon, 10/11/11—Can’t get enough of the acapella vocal groups popping up on YouTube? Be a part of the acapella vocal craze that is sweeping the nation as Solon High School’s Music in Motion Presents ‘An Evening of Barbershop’.
Solon High School’s Show Choir, Music In Motion, is hosting a benefit concert featuring the dynamic champion Barbershop Vocal Spectrum, on Friday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 33600 Inwood Road. This brilliant quartet won the 2006 International Quartet Championship and is one of the most sought young quartets in the world. They are the first and only quartet to win all three possible medals (Collegiate Quartet, Men’s Quartet, and Chorus Medal).
Sharing the stage with Vocal Spectrum that night will be Prestige, the 2011 Collegiate Barbershop Gold Medalist Quartet; The Men of Independence, the 2010 Johnny Appleseed District Chorus Champion; Music in Motion and the two male and four female Solon High School quartets.
Music in Motion is under the direction of Gary Lewis. Mr. Lewis is the vocal director for Solon High School. He sings baritone in Max Q, another world class barbershop quartet. Mr. Lewis stated, “Barbershop Harmony is one of the most compelling sounds in the musical tapestry. Come out and hear the best in the world, right here in Solon.”
Founded in 1985, Music in Motion is Solon High School's award winning show choir. For over 25 years MIM has been entertaining audiences with its high energy shows. This award-winning ensemble has performed in festivals and competitions in Ohio, Illinois, Virginia and Florida, earning top honors in vocal performance, show design, outstanding soloists and best choreography. MIM was the Grand Champion in 2010 at the Piqua High School Show Choir Invitational and the 2011 Grand Champion at The Twinsburg Northcoast Show Choir Invitational.
Tickets for the benefit are $25 for reserved seating in advance; general admission for adults is $20 at the door; and $15 for students and seniors.
