Dear Friends at NEOhioPAL:

*On November 12th, the Local Alumni Association of Delta Lambda Phi Social
Fraternity will be hosting BLUE: Stepped On, a benefit concert with dance,
drag and theatrics on November 12th at 7PM at the Kent Stage in Kent, Ohio*.
Doors open at 6:00 PM, cocktails will be available, and there will also be
a silent auction.* All proceeds will benefit the Academic Scholarship Fund,
which will provide financial assistance to those college students who are
unable to afford college due to issues surrounding their sexual
orientation, whether that be lack of parental support, religious
objections, costs for health concerns, etc*. Preference in this scholarship
will be given to initiated brothers of the Alpha Psi Chapter. Tickets for
the show are $25 for adults and $15 for students.

If you aren't aware, Delta Lambda Phi is the nation's oldest and largest
fraternity for gay, bisexual and progressive men, aiming to provide both a
safe and positive environment for these young men to grow and develop into
the leaders of tomorrow. In fact, DLP's motto is "Make your presence make a
difference." Brothers of Delta Lambda Phi are committed to making their
communities and the world a better place for all regardless of age, race,
nationality, sex, gender, or sexual orientation. The Alpha Psi Chapter has
been on KSU's campus now for over a decade.

For the past 25 years, Delta Lambda Phi has provided a safe, positive and
welcoming environment for gay, bisexual and progressive men on college
campuses nationwide, endeavoring to afford them the opportunities afforded
to all other college students: an identity, a place to call home, and
people to count on. This year, the Alpha Psi Chapter Local Alumni
Association is bringing a final piece to that puzzle: financial assistance
to those who may not have the ability to support themselves through
college.

In a nation whose economy is stressed, where jobs are scarce, and
discrimination and bigotry are still too often the norm, it can be hard for
most youth to find the money to attend college. For LGBT youth, who are too
often cut off from financial assistance from parents and family, it can be
even harder. Studies show that students who have to work during school have
worse grades and do not form social bonds as strong as their counterparts
who are able to focus wholly on their schoolwork. The Local Alumni
Association is attempting to change the pattern of LGBT students working
full-time during school, having to drop out to save money to continue
school, or having to enter the workforce without a college degree.

*Directed by Eric Van Sant and Dane Castle, with lighting design by Cory
Molner and choreography by Mary Vaccani, BLUE: Stepped On is a night of
drag, dance and musical performances illustrating the experience of gay,
bisexual and progressive men as they traverse the collegiate experience -
their highs, lows, and everything in between. Hosted by the Alumni
Association, it is a touching, powerful and sometimes whimsical reminder of
what we all experienced at one time, as we struggled to figure out
ourselves and our place in the world. *

It would be our honor to invite all the members of the NEOhioPAL community
to attend this event. As members of the greater Northeast Ohio performing
arts community, this issue affects us many of those in our community, and
we would welcome your support and promotion of this philanthropic endeavor.
Furthermore, it's going to be an AWESOME time!

Tickets can be purchased online at *http://goo.gl/pav4n. *Student IDs will
be required at the door for Student tickets. buy your tickets soon, because
they will sell out. I look forward to hopefully seeing you at the event and
thank you for your time in reading this!
