something new for December!

The Dark Room is a place where writers take center stage and their work has
a chance to grow. The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second
Tuesday of each month.

*7:15pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space limited). Writers
bring up to 10 pages of work to be read; actors cast on the spot!
*7:30pm:* Open Mic Session readings begin
*8:30pm:* Featured Readings of work from CSU Playwrights

*CSU Playwrights in the Dark Room:* Six playwriting students from the Fall
2011 English 393/602 class at CSU will be featured in the November Dark
Room. Taught by Christopher Johnston, the workshop course guides these
English and Creative Writing majors through the process of writing a
one-act or full-length play with vibrant dialogue, multidimensional
characters, and theatrical action. The following students wrote an original
piece or excerpted a scene from the full-length play they are writing in
the class: John Cuturic, Adam Falkenstein, Daniel Herda, Irina Kleyman,
Katie Wallace and Jacqui Wilson. The pieces will feature actors Bob
Kilpatrick, Dan Sekanic, Doug Kusak, Jennifer Klika, Christine Fallon, Nina
McCollum, Ryan Lucas, Joe Milan, John Busser and Greg Mandryk.

*SOMETHING NEW:* Feel like participating in the Dark Room but you're not a
writer? Or an actor? Or are you just starting to experiment with writing
but need a little push?  Scratch that creative itch by helping us provide
subject matter for future Dark Room works. We here at the Dark Room Monkey
Dental Laboratory and Bait Shoppe are going to start a new fun feature this
month. Attendees will create some titles or themes and throw them into a
hat. Writers will pick them randomly and be challenged to write to the
title or theme and present up to 10 pages at the December Dark Room! We'll
provide the writers, you provide the titles. Share in the glory. Or, if not
glory, the free Magic Hat beer. Either way, we all win.


*SAVE THE DATE: *Dark Room Holiday Party! Join us at the Dark Room on
December 13th. Writers will bring work created based on submitted titles
and themes, we'll have an Open Mic session and we'll have a jolly good time.
