(November 1, 2011, Akron, Ohio . For Immediate Release) Back by popular demand! Eighteen performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, are scheduled to be live on stage at WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE for its 12th annual holiday production.  This season's production, again beautifully directed by Sarah Bailey, includes dozens of new costumes, new set pieces, beautifully executed choreography and a huge and talented youth cast from Akron, Barberton, Canal Fulton, Clinton, Copley, Cuyahoga Falls, Massillon and Medina! 

 

Joseph is a rainbow ride through ancient Egypt on the wings of Andrew Lloyd Webber's uplifting music and the humor of lyricist Tim Rice. The musical tells the story of Joseph, a young man with a knack for having prophetic dreams. He incurs the jealousy of his brothers when his father gives him a magnificent colorful coat. The adventure that ensues tells an epic tale of biblical proportion! Joseph has instant appeal for every audience, shimmering with elaborately staged production numbers and a score full of hits. 

 

Joseph, the second production in our Young Actor Series, will be on stage at the playhouse from Tuesday, November 22 - Sunday, December 18, 2011.  Don't wait to buy your tickets OPENING NIGHT and ALL daytime performances have already SOLD OUT!

The Joseph cast will be joined by local Akron Public School choirs from the Falcon Academy of Creative Arts, Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts 4th Grade Ensemble, Ritzman CLC & NIHF Stem, and Windemere Elementary School.

 

Joseph promises to be an entertaining and fun event for the whole family! Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for youth under the age of 17. Group rates are also available. Charge by phone at 330-836-2626 with Visa, MasterCard or Discover, Mondays 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday - Friday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Show day Saturdays from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.

 


Brett Parr (Kent State, Medina) makes his first appearance on the Weathervane Stage as Joseph. 

Amanda Davis (Kent State, Akron) and Adam Vigneault (Medina) share the role of the narrator in this years' production. 

Jeff Bixby (Akron) returns to Weathervane's stage to perform the role of Jacob. 

Jonathan Merechant (Kent State, Akron) is well-known on the Weathervane Stage and performs the roles of Pharoah & Dan.
