Beginner/Easy Intermediate West Coast Swing

Monday, December 5, taught by Alex Kosiorek & Katie Fallon

7-9 pm  $20 per person

West Coast Swing is a partner dance derived from Lindy Hop. It is characterized by a distinctive elastic look that results from its basic extension-compression technique of partner connection, and is danced primarily in a slotted area on the dance floor. The dance allows for both partners to improvise steps while dancing together.  West Coast Swing is danced to modern pop and R & B music...and it is HIGHLY addictive! 

You do not need any previous West Coast Swing experience to take this class but it might be a good idea to have some previous partnered dance experience.

Beginner/Easy Intermediate partnered Hustle

Tuesday, December 6, taught by Alex Kosiorek & Valerie Salstrom
7-9 pm  $20 per person

The Hustle is a catchall name for several disco dances which were extremely popular in the 1970s. Today it mostly refers to the unique partner dance done in ballrooms and nightclubs to disco and popular music.  It has some features in common with both swing and salsa dancing.  As in the Latin dances, couples tend to move within a "spot" on the dance floor, as opposed to following a line of dance as in foxtrot, or as opposed to tracking within a slot as in West Coast Swing. 

This dance is VERY easy and fun to learn and this workshop is open to people who are 100% new to partnered dancing.

Dancing to The Syncopated Sin Swing Band will go from 9-12am!

The Syncopated Sinners are a new band on the dance scene and they have quickly become a favorite of both new and experienced dancers.  Come and check them out!


 The Lakewood Masonic Temple is located at 15300 Detroit Avenue.
Cost is $12 or $10 for students or seniors with a valid ID.

Everyone is welcome! No need for a partner. We rotate partners during the lesson.
