Heads Up Productions’
1,000 Hills
A play by Akron native India Burton
Presented as part of Cleveland Public Theatre’s Big Box Series
Akron’s Heads Up Productions presents 1,000 Hills, a world premiere
play by Akron native India Burton, as part of Cleveland Public
Theatre’s Big Box Series. As genocidal violence erupts in Rwanda,
three tourists confront serious moral dilemmas and their principles
are profoundly tested. 1,000 Hills asks: In a time of crisis, what are
our responsibilities to one another? A workshop production of the play
was called “gripping” and one audience member said “I sat on the edge
of my seat throughout.”
1,000 Hills is directed by Benjamin Rexroad, Heads Up’s Managing
Artistic Director. Performances will be held in the James Levin
Theatre at Cleveland Public Theatre, located at 6415 Detroit Ave,
Cleveland. Performance dates are Thursday, January 19th through
Saturday, January 21st. All performances are at 7 pm. Tickets are
$10 on Thursday and $15 on Friday and Saturday. Friday is “Free Beer
Friday” where artists and patrons are invited to hang out in the lobby
following the show, enjoy a free beer or glass of wine and talk about
what they’ve seen. Tickets can be purchased by calling 216.631.2727
ext. 501 or online at www.cptonline.org.

Heads Up shares the stage
Three actors, three inspirations, one journey.
Newly founded Mamai Theatre Company performs To the Sea..., a devised
theatre piece, to offer an exciting artistic exchange between the
musicality and imagery in John M. Synge's lyrical Riders to the Sea,
the goals of Etienne Decroux techniques and the immediacy and
spontaneity of Jacques Lecoq. The blend of these two traditions in
physical theatre maximize the rhythm and articulation of Synge's text
within a heightened style.
To The Sea… will play back-to-back with 1,000 Hills.
Now in its 10th year, Big Box provides local artists with the
opportunity to create and produce new work. Over seven weeks, Big Box
includes eleven world premiere workshop showings of theatre, dance,
music and genre-defying performances.
