Harold Exploration and Performance!

This 7 week intensive takes the performer inside the Harold to discover and explore the format. At the end of the intensive a class performance will be given. 

The Harold is a "long form" improv activity first developed in the 60s by theater director / teacher Del Close. Long form improvisational activities allow actors more time to develop believable characters and organic storylines. Whether the performance is a comedy or a drama is entirely up to the cast members. Long form improv can last from 10 to 45 minutes (or beyond)! If done well, it can be absolutely mesmerizing. - About.com

Marc is thrilled to be offering this unique Long-form Harold course . Marc has over 30 years as a Master Teacher in the art of Improv. Marc was the Founder/Artistic Director of Cleveland’s popular GIANT PORTIONS IMPROV CO. and has taught and performed with ImprovOlympic and Second City in Chicago and NYC. Other more “legitimate” directing credits include :THE WALWORTH FARCE and GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL! He most recently directed a production of THREE GUYS NAKED FROM THE WAIST DOWN at Weathervane Playhouse as well as A RAISIN IN THE SUN at True North Theatre. Other directing credits include ART and THE CHRISTMAS SCHOONER at True North Theatre. As an actor, Marc originated the role of Talk Show Host in the Broadway production of the Stephen Sondheim / Hal Prince musical, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG. He most recently appeared as Al Lewis in THE SUNSHINE BOYS at Porthouse Theatre. Other Regional acting work includes Great Lakes Theatre Festival -Idaho Shakespeare Festival Co-Production of INTO THE WOODS . Favorite Roles: Mushnik in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS ,Tateh -RAGTIME, Cat In The Hat - SEUSSICAL , Chico - COCOANUTS , Malvolio - TWELFTH NIGHT , Ezekial Cheever - CRUCIBLE , Emperor Joseph – AMADEUS and Claudius in HAMLET .Theatres : GLTF, Idaho Shakespeare Festival , Riverside Shakespeare, Cleveland Playhouse, Porthouse Theatre, Long Wharf , Goodman , New Harmony , & Dobama. Marc was the Founder/Artistic Director of Cleveland’s popular GIANT PORTIONS IMPROV CO. and has taught and performed with ImprovOlympic and Second City in Chicago and NYC. Marc is in the Returning Professional Acting program at Kent State University and will receive his MFA in Spring 2012. Finally!
