Dobama Theatre offers classes!
Technique classes for the Working Actor 
Join us for the first in a series of acting classes developed for the
professional theater artist.  
Unlock your creative potential and continue to evolve and deepen your acting
process.

Voice and Movement for the Actor/8 Class Intensive 
A voice and movement based acting class with a focus on Laban's movement
principles for the actor and Viewpoints. Discover your ability to create
truthful emotional connections and complex character behavior through
technique-based exercises that will unlock your creative potential,
strengthen your presence, and increase the specificity and authenticity of
your character choices.  Students are expected to come to class prepared
with two monologues for exploration. Actors are also required to dress for
class in clothing that will allow for freedom of movement. 
The first class is free. We ask each actor to consider at least a 4-class
commitment. Join us for a dynamic reawakening of your artistic expression
and effectively enhance your ability to create memorable, truthful and
compelling characters.


Class schedule:  Mondays -- 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/27, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 4/2, 4/9
(no class 2/20 or 3/26)
No. of classes:  A total of 9 two-hour classes.  The 1/30 class is free.
Package price:  $140 (pay in advance - guarantees your spot and you receive
an additional class for free--$20 savings)
Individual class price:  $20/class
Maximum class size: 12
Class instructor: Leighann DeLorenzo
Students must be 18 or older and have some acting experience.

About the instructor Leighann DeLorenzo
Leighann is an actor and director who last appeared in Dobama Theater's
Circle Mirror Transformation. She has been an acting instructor for the DEAP
program at Dobama for the last two seasons. Recent directing credits include
William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Ellen McLaughlin's The Trojan Women,
and Federico Garcia Lorca's Blood Wedding. Leighann earned an MFA in acting
from the University of South Carolina, completing her graduate program with
a professional acting internship with The Shakespeare Theatre Company in
Washington, DC. There she appeared in five productions, sharing the stage
with Dixie Carter in A Woman of No Importance and Hal Holbrook in The
Merchant of Venice.  
Leighann served as the Co-Artistic Director of Arts United of Washington, a
non-profit performing arts company for two years directing their inaugural
production of Racine's Phedre and the original work Meet Me at the Cafe. She
has taught and directed for The Shakespeare Theatre Company's summer
intensive programs and also served as a member of the theatre's master
acting class faculty. Other directing and teaching credits include the Duke
Ellington School of the Arts, the nationally recognized Fillmore Arts
Center, the DC public schools, and the college preparatory program at
Georgetown University. Previous acting roles have included Antigone in
Anhouilh's Antigone, Sylvia in The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Ibid in The
Profession and Sonya in Uncle Vanya.  Leighann made her Cleveland acting
debut at the Bang and the Clatter in May of 2009 in Neil Labute's This Is
How it Goes.  Leighann is currently the Upper School Theater Director at
Laurel School in Shaker Heights.
