*"...clever, full of laughs... sweet and heartwarming with funny
moments, excellent acting and accents... a talented cast working in
ensemble to help us on the journey forward... "Enchanted April" is a
love note to those who appreciate wisteria and sunshine."

Directed by Brendan Sandham

/Enchanted April,/ Matthew Barber's Tony-award winning stage adaptation
of Elizabeth Von Arnim's 1922 novel, will be the first production of
2012 at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre. It opens in January under the
direction of Brendan Sandham. The play is based on the same book which
spawned the 1992 film (nominated for several Golden Globe and Academy
Awards) and the 2010 musical stage version.

Beginning in 1920s England, /Enchanted April/ tells the tale Lotty
Wilson (Dawn Hill), the young wife of a prominent British solicitor, who
settles upon an April getaway to a secluded castle in Milan to relieve
her boredom with rainy London (and with her husband - played by Don
Knepper). She invites along her new friend from the Ladies Club, the
quiet and thoughtful Rose Arnott (Caitlin Van Niel). Rose is feeling
left behind by her own husband (Brint Learned), and joins bubbly Lotty
for a change of scenery.

Needing money to cover the rental fee of the Italian castle, Lotty
manages to convince two unlikely strangers to go along - the
free-spirited young socialite Lady Caroline (Evie Koh), and an
overbearing widow named Mrs. Graves (Anna Davis). Upon reaching Milan,
the unlikely companions also meet the castle's owner (Matt Mortensen)
and cook (Pamela Ruiz), who soon become part of their lives. While
falling in love with the Mediterranean countryside, they each learn
something surprising about hope, love, and themselves. It's an uplifting
romantic comedy that's perfect for warming the heart in the middle of a
blustery Cleveland winter!
