Audition Information for Pearl



Pearl needs to be a young girl who can look and sound around seven years old, regardless of actual age.  Since the rest of the cast are high school students, height is very important; a tall Pearl will not work. She needs to look much shorter than the rest of the cast who all play adults.  She needs to be a disciplined young girl who can memorize dialogue in Hawthorne’s language.  She will not only need to be a disciplined young girl but must also be able to be rambunctious according to directives.  This play contains serious material and this young girl will need to be comfortable in this setting.



The audition itself will be closed to the public; it will have all of the young girls auditioning that day read cold from the script along with the already-cast character of Hester.  During the readings, the young girl should do her best to read with expression and be able to play off of Hester, her mother in the play.



The rehearsal schedule varies depending upon the scenes and times of availability for cast members.  As the show nears, the rehearsal schedule will be more frequent and attendance is essential for all cast members in order to fine tune the production.  Rehearsals will never go beyond 8pm.

Monday January 30th from 6:30-7:30pm

Thursday February 2nd from 5:30-6:30pm

Thursday February 9th from 6:00-7:00pm
