Hello, Cleveland. This is UF for AOTH.

In the theater world, the one-man show needs a few things to be successful
– an interesting story to tell and a storyteller who can keep an audience
actively engaged. In *Bully* - a one man show depicting the life of
Theodore Roosevelt, we have both. Not only did Teddy Roosevelt live one of
the most interesting lives of any of our presidents but Neil Thackaberry of
Actor’s Summit in Akron thoroughly inhabits the role and brings the great
man’s zest for living to life.

Theodore Roosevelt embraced life and believed it was essential to live it
to the fullest. Virtually afraid of nothing, Roosevelt charged up San Juan
Hill with the Rough Riders, became a cowboy out west, survived a charging
Grizzly bear, challenged the industrialist tycoons, wrote books on numerous
topics, ran for president on a third party ticket, negotiated the end to
the Russian – Japanese war, and was the first American to win a Nobel Peace
Prize. And that’s just part of the story. It was a full life.

Neil Thackaberry gives a finely tuned, very believable performance and with
hairpiece and glasses he closely resembles Roosevelt. Blusterous when
called for, Thackaberry is also very effective in the quieter moments, such
as reflecting on the deaths of his first wife and his mother on the same
day. He’s a pleasure to watch and deserved the audience’s standing ovation.

Actors’ Summit performs in Greystone Hall on High Street in downtown Akron
with free, guarded parking.
