FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  Rabbit Run Theater's Auditions for 2012 Season

 

 

In celebration of the 200th birthday of the world renowned author Charles
Dickens, Rabbit Run Theater is basing the productions of the 2012 season on
the works of this ground breaking author.

 

Productions for the summer include, The Mystery of Charles Dickens, Oliver!,
The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby and The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

 

The Mystery of Charles Dickens by Peter Ackroyd is a one-man show that has
been pre-cast.

 

Winner of three Tony Awards, Oliver! has delighted audiences for decades
with its fantastic musical score and heartfelt lyrics.  The music, lyrics
and book are by Lionel Bart; Oliver! is licensed by arrangement with Oliver
Productions, Ltd. and Oliver Promotions, Ltd.  Production dates for Oliver!
are June 15 through June 30.

 

Numerous roles are available for boys ages 6 through 12 and men and women
ages high school to adult.  Actors auditioning should prepare to sing 16
bars of a Broadway-style song.  Please bring sheet music for an accompanist.
No CDs.

 

Oliver! is directed by Brendan Sandham with musical direction by Ed Leonard.

 

Spontaneous, merry and even raucous describe the musical The Mystery of
Edwin Drood, winner of five Tony Awards, and written by Rupert Holmes.  The
show is directed by Brint Learned; musical director to be determined.
Production dates are Aug. 17 through Sept. 1.

 

Numerous roles are available for men and women ages 16 to adult.  Actors
auditioning should prepare to sing 16 bars of a Broadway-style song.  Please
bring sheet music for an accompanist.  No CDs.

 

Auditions for Oliver! and The Mystery of Edwin Drood are, Saturday, March
10, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 11, from 1 to 5 p.m.

 

The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby by David Edgar, from the novel
by Charles Dickens, is one of the greatest theatrical experiences of our
time and was phenomenally successful in London and New York.  The show is
produced in two parts.  

 

The show is directed by Ann Hedger.  Production dates are July 6 through
Aug. 5.

 

Numerous roles are available for Nicholas Nickleby for men and women ages 16
to adult.  Actors need to prepare a one- to two-minute dramatic monologue,
preferably memorized but may also be read.  British accents are welcome, but
not necessary for first audition.  If possible, actors should be familiar
with the show.

 

Auditions for Nicholas Nickleby are Saturday, March 10, from 1 p.m. to 5
p.m. and Sunday, March 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

All auditions are at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St.,
Madison, OH.  Auditions appointments may be made by calling RRCAA at
440-428-5913.

 

RRCAA is a non-profit, comprehensive fine arts association offering
instruction in all the major disciplines of the fine and performing arts and
receives partial funding from the Ohio Arts Council.  RRCAA also operates
Rabbit Run Theater, 5648 W. Chapel Rd., Madison.
