[NEohioPAL] "The Piano Lesson" Directed by Michael Oatman opens Friday

[TrueNorth Cultural Arts]

TrueNorth Cultural Arts, the Lorain County Metro Parks, and the Morning
Journal are proud to present *The Piano Lesson*. Written by August Wilson
and performed in honor of Black History Month, *The Piano Lesson*, set in
Pittsburgh in 1936 in the aftermath of the Great Depression, follows the
story of an African American family and what do to with a family heirloom,
a piano. Do they sell it to triumph over their ancestor's slavery or do
they keep it, cherishing their family's legacy?



"Wilson leaves behind a debate that has no easy answers; but that is not
the point of Wilson's work; it is the journey one takes when they face the
ghosts of our collective past..." says director Michael Oatman. *The Piano
Lesson* opens this Friday February 17th and runs through March 4th, with
show times of 7:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 pm on Sundays. There
is a special school matinee on Friday Feb. 24th at 10 am.
