2012 Cain Park Theater Auditions
on March 2-4 for
AVENUE Q

PERFORMANCE DATES/TIMES: June 14-July 1, 2012 in Cain Park’s Alma Theater.
Thursdays-Saturdays at 7 pm, Sundays at 2 pm.
REHEARSALS begin May 14 and usually occur weekday evenings and day/evening hours on weekends at the Cleveland Heights Community Center.

AUDITION DATES/TIMES
Friday, March 2 — 6-11pm EQUITY PRINCIPAL
   Non-Equity may audition on Friday but no specific appointment time will be reserved.  Non-Equity should call and ask to be placed on a list of auditioners who will be heard between Equity audition appointments.
Saturday, March 3 — 10am-6pm EQUITY & NON-EQUITY
Sunday, March 4 – 10am-4pm CALLBACKS
   Singing, reading from the script, and movement

AUDITION LOCATION
Cleveland Heights Community Center (1 Monticello Blvd at Mayfield Rd, 44118)
Free parking at Community Center. Parking lot can only be entered from Monticello.

CASTING NEEDS — ALL ROLES OPEN
Puppets are used in this show and actors play multiple characters.
Brian (baritone, B2-F#4):  Human. An aspiring comedian recently laid off from his day job.
Christmas Eve (B3-F#5):  Human. Brian’s Japanese fiancée and a therapist with no clients.
Gary Coleman (belt voice or alto):  Human.  Yes, that Gary Coleman.  He lives on the Avenue and is the building superintendent.
Kate Monster (soprano, F#3-F5):  Puppet.  A Kindergarten teaching assistant, a bit older than Princeton.
Lucy (alto, belting):  Puppet.  A vixenish vamp with a dangerous edge.
Mrs. T.:  Puppet.  Ancient, Kate’s boss.
Nicky (baritenor, B2-B4):  Puppet.  A bit of a slacker, who lives with Rod.
Princeton (baritenor, Bb2-G4): Puppet.  A fresh-faced kid just out of college with no work experience and an English degree.
Rod (baritenor, A2-G4):  Puppet.  A Republican investment banker with a secret.
The Bad Idea Bears (1 female voice, mezzo-soprano, 1 male voice, baritone):  Puppet.  Two snuggle, cute teddy-bear types.
Trekkie Monster (Bb2-Eb4):  Puppet.  A surly reclusive creature obsessed by the Internet.
Cain Park is committed to non-traditional casting.  Actors will be cast solely on the basis of talent, except in cases where age, race or physical ability is essential to a role.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
1. 18-40 years old
2. Memorize/prepare 2 short songs in the style of AVENUE Q.
3. Bring sheet music in the proper key (accompanist is provided).  NO TAPED MUSIC ALLOWED.  Please note...you will not be allowed to audition without sheet music.
4. Bring your current resume and a current headshot, which will be retained by Cain Park.
5. Check your calendar for any conflicts before auditioning (see performance dates and rehearsal dates above).

COMPENSATION
Salaried AEA contracts are available and EMC (Equity Membership Candidate) credit will be granted.   Non-Equity actors appearing in Cain Park productions will be paid a modest stipend.
