Dobama Theatre presents GYMreads

Staged readings from the Playwrights' GYM

Semper Fi: Ghosts of War

 By Christopher Johnston

Wednesday, March 7
 7:00 p.m.

Synopsis: Based on interviews with Jim Kyle, a retired Marine officer who
served in Vietnam, the play tells the story of Kyle's 40-year search to
learn what happened to his friend, Danny Nicklow, who was killed at Khe Sanh
on March 16, 1967. He was a member of the First Battalion, Ninth Marines,
who later became better known as The Walking Dead. Ultimately, the play is
an exploration of three men full of promise who went to war: One dies and
never gets to fulfill that promise; one is severely wounded and is haunted
by war the rest of his life; one comes home to fulfill his promise, then
loses his family and career in an act of angry self-destruction, but finds
redemption when he uncovers the truth about his friend's heroic death.
