Hello, Cleveland. This is Uncle Fred for Arts on the Heights.

Actors’ Summit in Akron is currently presenting the world premier of Eric
Coble’s *A Girl’s Guide To Coffee.* The first part in a trilogy, the play
introduces us to Alexandra a 20-something, college-educated woman who is
content with working at a local coffee shop. Her parents would like her to
get a real job, her boss would like her to go to Barcelona to compete in
the barista Olympics, Christopher – a young man who comes into the coffee
shop would like to develop a relationship. All of this is great except that
Alex has her own way of embracing life and it’s pretty much without a plan
or by making commitments.

Well written, *A Girl’s Guide To Coffee* is basically all Alex. In addition
to her interactions with other characters, we also get to hear her thoughts
on a variety of subjects through monologues that she delivers directly to
the audience. Plus, most of the other characters are featured in their own
solo moments that are both very funny or serious.

Margo Chervony is terrific as Alex and carries the show. The supporting
cast creates a nice ensemble and Constance Thackaberry’s direction keeps
the action moving along quickly. This is a pleasant evening at the theater
where all the elements come together.

Actors’ Summit performs in Greystone Hall in downtown Akron and provides
free guarded parking.

*A Girl’s Guide To Coffee* runs through March 11. Details are available at
actorssummit.org.
