CPT is Seeking to Hire Dance Instructors for Education Programs - Summer 2012

Cleveland Public Theatre is looking to hire up to two Dance Instructors for CPT Education programs this summer. We are primarily interested in accomplished artists over 23 years old who can serve as a strong role model for youth in our Brick City and STEP programs, and who can create original material in collaboration with these children/teen participants. Artists would also need to function well as part of a team of teaching artist peers of different disciplines who have the task of creating an original play in a short time frame. Drive, ability to follow though, ability to compromise when necessary, good sense of humor and great communication skills are essential. Each project would provide artist with opportunity to choreograph 2-4 original pieces - at least 2 of them being large group pieces. Positions also include support teaching for the other TA's in other disciplines, light admin duties, and coaching students through the larger creative process. Pay is good.

Program Descriptions

 * STEP Rigorous training for urban youth ages 14-19 in acting, writing, movement, voice, dance, production, and touring. During the 8-week summer program, students work in collaboration with CPT artists to develop an original play or an inventive adaptation of an existing work, and then tour it to outdoor venues throughout the City of Cleveland.
 * Brick City Theatre A program for children ages 5-13 living in public housing offered in partnership with the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority. Under the dedicated guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, children enhance academic and life skills as they develop their own plays and perform them for their community.

To be considered for the positions, send resume and cover letter stating your interest in CPT Education programs and working collaboratively to: CPT Education Director Chris Seibert at cseibert at cptonline.org<mailto:cseibert at cptonline.org> or fax (216) 631-2575. No phone calls please.
