The Dark Room is a place where writers take center stage and their work has
a chance to grow. The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second
Tuesday of each month.

*7:15pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space is limited). Writers
can bring up to 10 pages of work to be read; actors will be cast on the
spot!
*7:30pm:* Reading of *Little House by the Sea* by Irina Kleyman
*8:15pm:* Open Mic Begins

*About the Featured Reading:* In *Little House by the Sea* by by Irina
Kleyman Alouli, a young girl living on an island nowhere in particular has
it hard. She has difficulty in school, hardly any friends, and her parent's
marriage is on the downward spiral. Life for Alouli is complicated, until
she finds a house. Or, rather, a house that conjures surreal,
incomprehensible experiences and bestows great powers, finds her. Then life
for her gets really complicated, for with this house's power there comes a
price.

The Dark Room is a presentation of Cleveland Public Theatre and affords
emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new
works. It offers a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other
written work in a supportive, yet critical environment.

If you are interested in being a featured writer at a future Dark Room,
please send a 20-30 page script along with a short bio, cast requirements,
descriptions of the characters and a synopsis of the piece. Writers wishing
to present during the open session portion of Dark Room may submit shorter
works, up to ten pages, in advance of the event or bring them on the night
of the event. All submissions should be made to Mindy Herman at
