Spring Out to Stocker for These Exciting Events!

 

Arts Midwest World Fest presents Tarim, Uygur Song and Dance Ensemble on
Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. Hear the ancient songs of the Silk Road,
the melodies of the Uygurs, the Kazaks, the Kirkiz; the rhythms of the
Hui, the Uzbek and Tatars. Experience Tarim, an ensemble of musicians
and dancers from the Cultural Bureau of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous
Region. Tickets for this event are $15 for adults and $10 for students. 

Now let's go back in time to 1939. Remember A Fine Romance, Stormy
Weather, It's Only a Paper Moon, Pennies from Heaven? Join Mark
Flanders, Joan Ellison, The Melody Maids, and Jason Aquila as they bring
Your Hit Parade of 1939 to the Stocker Studio Theatre on Friday and
Saturday, April 20 and 21, at 8:00 p.m. each evening. Tickets: $15.

Who doesn't love Gilbert and Sullivan? The New York Gilbert and Sullivan
Players will be at Stocker on Sunday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. Join us for
the Wand'ring Minstrels in the Pirates of Penzance and an Afternoon of
Gilbert and Sullivan Favorites. Act I brings your favorite songs from
the Pirates of Penzance. Act II will be your requests, so be ready with
your list of Gilbert and Sullivan favorites! Tickets: $34/Orchestra;
$27/Mezzanine.

Celebrating 50 years of The Rat Pack, Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack Show is
the next best thing to seeing the Rat Pack themselves. Join us on
Thursday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. for this wonderful walk down memory lane.
Hear recorded voice-overs by Sandy's father, Buddy Hackett. This will be
a night to remember. Tickets: $34/Orchestra; $27/Mezzanine.

Closing out our musical season, Blues Fanfare joins us on Friday and
Saturday, May 11 and 12 at 8:00 p.m. each evening. Their playlist
includes jazz and blues favorites from Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder,
Susan Tedeschi, Norah Jones, Maroon 5, and many more. Tickets: $15.

There are still three fabulous films in our film series this season: 

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, Friday, March 30 - A romantic comedy about a young
man's great love for a city, Paris, and the illusion people have that a
life different from theirs would be much better.

MONSIEUR LAZHAR, Friday, April 13 - A Teacher and his students come to
terms with loss, guilt, and other issues that life has thrown at them.
An inspiring character study that earns every one of its heart-warming
moments.

A DANGEROUS METHOD, Friday, April 20 - This film explores the turbulent
relationships between fledgling psychiatrist Carl Jung, his mentor
Sigmund Freud and Sabina Spielrein, a beautiful but disturbed young
woman who comes between them.

All films begin at 7:30 p.m. Yearly Film Society Membership is $3 and
film tickets are just $6.
