Nunset Boulevard

Fridays & Saturdays May 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 at 8pm & Sunday, May 13 at 2pm

Independence Community Theatre presents the northeast Ohio premiere of Nunset Boulevard: The Nunsense Hollywood Bowl Show. Nunset Boulevard is the seventh in the series of Nunsense shows, written by Dan Goggins.

The Little Sisters of Hoboken, the stars of the Nunsense shows, are no strangers to Independence. Director Ruth Wheaton has presented all six previous shows in Independence over the past 12 years. And now, Wheaton, along with Musical Director Gail Wirick and cast of five local performers, are excited to put on Nunset Boulevard.

Brief Synopsis:
Nunset Boulevard follows the irrepressible Little Sisters of Hoboken as they receive the news that they have been invited to sing at the Hollywood Bowl. They are thrilled at the prospect until they arrive and realize they are booked at the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama, a bowling alley with a cabaret lounge. The comedy mounts when the nuns learn that a famous movie producer is across the street auditioning actresses for his new movie musical, “Nunset Boulevard: A Song from the Hart,” about the life of Dolores Hart, the famous movie star who became a nun.

Performances are Fridays & Saturdays, May 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 at 8pm, and Sunday, May 13 at 2pm. Show tickets are $10. For tickets or more information call 216-447-0443.

The Cast:
All five cast members have a Nunsense history, performing in previous shows in Independence and other local communities.
	* The Reverend Mother, Sister Mary Regina, is played by Linda Waranai. Waranai was most recently seen as Reverend Mother in Strongsville’s rendition of the original Nunsense.
	* Another Nunsense regular, Lydia Kammersgard is back to once again play the role of Sister Hubert, the Mistress of Novices.
	* Jennifer Sindyla returns to the Independence stage as the streetwise Sister Robert Anne. Sindyla has played Sister Robert Anne in all six previous Nunsense shows put on by Independence and was Robert Anne in Strongsville’s recent production. Sindyla is also the choreographer of the show.
	* The endearing and naïve Sister Mary Amnesia is once again played by Kathleen Caldwell. Caldwell has previously portrayed Amnesia in Independence as well as directed Nunsense in Strongsville.
	* Kate Buddenhagen Zelasko returns to the Independence stage to play Sister Mary Leo for the first time. However, Zelasko was Sister Mary Amnesia in a previous Independence Nunsense.
More About the Show:
The Little Sisters of Hoboken have been invited to sing at the Hollywood Bowl. They are thrilled at the prospect until they arrive and realize that they are booked into the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama---a bowling alley with a cabaret lounge - and not the famed "Bowl" they were planning on. The show is structured in the tried and true variety format, but as always, things go awry. The Sisters have to contend with announcements from the bowling alley public address system as well as the activity on the lanes. Midway through the first act someone gets wind of the fact that the famed movie producer, James Todd, is across the street auditioning for roles in his new movie musical, "Nunset Boulevard: A Song from the Hart," about the life of Dolores Hart, the famous movie star who became a nun. The Sisters, thinking they are naturals for parts race off to audition during their show’s intermission. In the second act, woven through the planned numbers are updates as
to what has happened with the audition.

Independence Community Theatre is a theater of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Performances are held at the Independence Old Town Hall at 6652 Brecksville Rd., Independence, Ohio 44131. (216) 447-0443
