The Shaker Heights Arts Council has made an exciting addition to our AHa! series!

On Monday, April 23, at a Shaker Heights home on West Park Boulevard, internationally acclaimed pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi will talk about, and perform excerpts from, the magnificent Grieg Piano Concerto.

Mr. Pompa-Baldi has toured extensively through four continents, bringing his assured touch on the keyboard to some of the world's major concert venues including Cleveland's Severance Hall, Milan's Sala Verdi, New York's Carnegie Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall, and Paris' Theatre des Champs-Elysees and Théâtre du Châtelet. A top prize winner at the 1998 Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition of Paris, France, Antonio Pompa-Baldi also won a silver medal and the Award for the Best Performance of a New Work at the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

We hope you'll join us for this unique evening, which opens at 7 p.m. with a wine-and-hors-d’oeuvres reception and music performed by a gifted Cleveland Institute of Music student pianist. The AHa! officially begins at 7:30 and includes both Mr. Pompa-Baldi 's lecture-performance and a talk by William C. Laufer about his role as artistic director and founder of the vibrant, young Ohio Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom Mr. Pompa-Baldi will perform the Grieg concerto May 4-5. A Cleveland native and an award winning film producer, director and writer, Mr. Laufer has been actively involved in supporting classical music and the Ohio music scene for nearly 20 years.
