Lake Erie College Presents Murder Mystery Comedy “Are You Sure?”(Painesville, 
Ohio) – The Lake Erie College Theatre Department invites you to attend a murder 
mystery comedy by award-winning writer Sam Bobrick. "Are You Sure?” will be 
performed April 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the C.K. Rickel 
Theatre in the Royce Hall for the Fine and Performing Arts. The play is directed 
by Lake Erie College Assistant Professor of Theatre Dr. Jerry 
Jaffe.

 "Are You Sure?” is a puzzle of mystery combined with madness and 
perception. A pick of the week, LA Weekly called the play "a clever and literate 
theatrical Rubic’s cube.” The story follows a love-hate relationship between 
Caroline, played by community actress Addy Frazer, and David, played by Lake 
Erie College junior Richard Keay, who seemingly plot to torture and murder each 
other. The supporting cast includes senior Haley Carter and local actor Gaz. The 
sets and costumes are designed by 2007 alumna Julie Harter and lights by area 
set designer Michael Breeze.

The bizarre family represents ex-husbands, 
mistresses and servants, in addition to various ensemble members to add to the 
chaos. Lieutenant Anderson, played by Instructor of Education and Director of 
Clinical Experiences and Partnerships Matt Theisen, solves the case of the 
murdered Stefanie, played by junior Jessica Drake. 

 "Are You Sure?” will 
be senior Haley Carter’s last production before her graduation this May. She 
recently directed one of the College’s short plays The Talking Bone, and starred 
in other productions such as God, Maskerade and Requiem.

"I have enjoyed 
being a part of the College’s theatre productions. Dr. Jaffe always finds unique 
and exciting plays that test our characters by immersing us in different roles,” 
said Carter.

Bobrick has written many plays, TV shows and movie scripts. 
His first television script, written for The Andy Griffith Show, won the Writers 
Guild Award. In addition, he won two additional Guild Awards and received an 
Emmy nomination. Bobrick wrote and produced episodes for shows such as Get 
Smart, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Gomer Pyle USMC, The Flintstones, 
Bewitched and several others. He also created the long-running series Saved by 
The Bell, currently in worldwide syndication. Feature films Bobrick is noted for 
include Jimmy the Kid, The Last Remake of Beau Geste, and Norman, Is That You? 
Bobrick’s most recent play, The Pyschic, won the 2011 Edgar Award for "Best Play 
by the Mystery Writers of America.”

General admission tickets are $5 and 
are available by calling the Lake Erie College box office at 440.375.7455. No 
reservations are necessary. Royce Hall for the Fine and Performing Arts is 
easily accessible from the Lake Erie College campus, 391 W. Washington Street, 
Painesville. Free parking is available at the Gillett Street entrance.
