CASTING CALL
Gospel Stage Play: “When You’ve Been Called”
Performance Date: Saturday, November  3, 2012
Synopsis 
God calls all of us to do something for Him but how we respond to and answer that call in the face of adversity directly effects and shapes our future.

Roles:
Leads

Annette – (medium height, thick, early 30s) Kind-hearted, spiritual wife and mother.  Professional, very loving and understanding woman of God grounded by her faith.

Melvin – (medium height, well-groomed mid 30s) Minister.  Kind, reformed drug dealer.  Living his life in an attempt to right the wrongs of his past.

Kevin – (average height, stocky build, early 20s) Drug dealer trying to survive the streets.  Not afraid to live, nor is he afraid to die.  

Supporting

Pastor Jones – (short, chubby, early 40s) Intelligent, well spoken Pastor of One Faith Church.  Down to earth, loves to laugh and joke but serious about spreading the Word and doing the work of the Lord.

Asia – (short, petite, late 20s) Melvin’s sassy, smart-mouthed wife.  Nasty disposition.

Karen – (medium height and weight, early 30s) Annette’s best friend.  Very fun loving always positive and supportive and willing to offer a smile, a hand or an ear to anyone in need.  

Kimberly – (short, medium build, mid 20s) Karen’s baby sister who is not afraid to go after what she wants or believes in.  Carefree, laid back, tells it like it is pulling no punches.

Lisa – (average height, thin Caucasian, early 30s) Genuinely good person but cold and misunderstood.  Suffering the repercussions of the bad choices of her past.

Michelle – (medium height, thin, late 20s) Professional and easy going.  Devoted mother, wife and friend.

Nicole – (tall, light skinned, thin, mid 30s) Single family friend.  Compassionate and kind.

Principal

CJ – (circa 8 years) Annette and Sedrick’s son.

Lamonte – (tall, medium build, late 30s) Annette’s big brother.  Good man.  Kind and carefree. Somewhat of a lady’s man.

Sedrick – (tall, dark and handsome, mid 30s) Annette’s husband.  Easy going professional.  Very loving and compassionate.

Extras

Andrew – (circa 6 years) Asia and Melvin’s son. (Has no lines)

Angel – (circa 7) Michelle and Tim’s daughter. (Has no lines)

Christian – (circa 5) Michelle and Tim’s son. (Has no lines)

Hostess – Diner hostess/waitress who seats and takes patron’s orders.

Jason – Nicole’s Caucasian boyfriend. (Has one line)

Mark – (circa 9 years) Asia and Melvin’s young male child. (Has one line)

Runner – Kevin’s friend.  Drug dealer.  (Very few lines)

Tim – Michelle’s husband. (Has one line)
