*Talespinner Children's Theatre announces Summer Classes*


 Talespinner Children's Theatre (TCT) Executive Artistic Director Alison
Garrigan is proud to announce that registration is now open for summer
educational programming. TCT is a new Cleveland theatre company that
develops and produces highly imaginative, original, collaborative and
interactive professional works for children.

TCT offers a variety of classes developed for pre-schoolers (ages 3-5),
kids (6-11) and early teens (11-14). Summer sessions will take place over
two weeks. Week One: Monday, August 6th through Saturday, August 11th and
Week Two: Monday, August 13th through Saturday, August 18th. Students can
enroll for classes in week one, week two or both!

Pre-school classes will be held daily from 9:30am – 10:30am; programming
for kids ages 6-11 and early teenagers ages 11-14 will be held daily from
11:00am – 4:00pm. Kids and early teens should bring their own lunch every
day. All classes will be held at Talespinner Children's Theatre at the
Reinberger Auditorium, 5209 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, Ohio.

Classes will be taught by qualified theatre professionals and students will
explore puppets and puppetry, comedic improvisation, international theatre,
how to strengthen their body and voice, the art of mask-making and more!
Fees for summer programming are $65 per week for pre-schoolers and $180 per
week for kids and early teens. TCT also offers a Sibling Discount for
families with more than one child interested in attending! (Sibling
Discount is not available via online registration. Please call for

ABOUT TALESPINNER CHILDREN'S THEATRE: TCT is a Cleveland-based company that
develops and produces highly imaginative, original, collaborative and
interactive professional works for children that also stimulate creative
growth in its artists. At any time, these pieces may involve acting, dance,
music, puppetry, tumbling, drumming, and numerous other artistic
disciplines as imagined by the artistic teams working with and for TCT, and
are open to all creative possibility. TCT's aim is to bring theatre to the
community in its fullest form providing excitement, growth and joy for all
who are involved in and/or touched by its work.

TCT strives to reach across socio-economic, cultural and traditional
boundaries to help awaken and bring better understanding by opening eyes,
ears, hearts and imaginations in the young people (and artists) of
Cleveland and its surrounds.

TCT creates work that remembers that children are smaller people, not
lesser people.

 *Summer Class Descriptions:*

Week 1
Monday – Saturday, August 6th – 11th

*Pre-school (ages 3 -5)** *
9:30am-10:30am daily

 *Storyland Adventures* (Lydia Chanenka) Students explore their imagination
through the investigation of sets, costumes, and props while inventing new
worlds and characters—freeing the creative spirit of each child while
developing active listening, problem-solving and refining motor skills and
ensemble technique.


 *Kids (ages 6-10)**
*11:00am – 4:00pm daily

 *Move Your Body (*Brittany Gaul) Rooted in various types of physical
movement that apply to any style of acting, this class teaches students to
use their entire body to loosen up and have fun acting.


 *Acting Around the World (*Eric Perusek) Students learn how different
people from around the world tell stories for kids onstage. Explore
folktales and learn some of the international styles that represent
different types of theatre in different lands.


 *Finding Your Voice (*Alison Garrigan) Students learn to use their voices
as an instrument of emotion, mood, language and creativity—and how
important the voice is to almost any kind of theatre.


 *Improv: Yes, And? (*Liz Huff) Through games, movement, and creative play,
students will learn an Improv foundation that will help develop a strong
sense of self, and a lifelong love for expression and creativity.


 *Puppets and Puppet People (*Alison Garrigan) Students will use various
materials to create different kinds of playful puppets—fueling creativity
and dreams, as well as working with expression and character development.


 *Early Teens (ages 11-14)*

1:00am – 4:00pm daily

The Art of Moving *(Brittany Gaul) Students spend their time discovering
how to move their bodies and act out exciting stories without using words.


 *Different People, Different Show *(Eric Perusek) Students explore
specific story-telling styles from different countries, and how different a
story becomes when acted out in different ways.


 *I Am My Voice *(Alison Garrigan) Using games, exercises and exploration,
students will learn the range of expression through voice, and how the
vocal instrument ties in to expression onstage—and off!


 *Improv: A Sense of Play *(Liz Huff) Students learn how to develop
characters, play well with others, and give gifts for better scenes through
improv.


 *Creative Mask-Making *(Alison Garrigan) Through the use of different
materials, students will create their own theatrical masks, and explore how
wearing a mask changes who we are onstage.



 *Week 2: Monday – Saturday, August 13th – 18th*


 *Pre-school (ages 3 - 5)** *

9:30am – 10:30am daily

 *Land of Many Colors (*Lydia Chanenka) A space adventure to a rainbow land
where trouble is afoot! Students will use puppets, theatre, voice and
movement while engaging in live performing arts in a collaborative process
that explores the theatrical experience.


 *Kids (ages 6-10) *

11:00am – 4:00pm daily*
