AUDITION NOTICE
The North Canton Playhouse's Sixth Annual

From Script to You: 2012 New Works Festival

Featuring New Plays and Devising Theatre

Audition Dates: Monday, May 21 and Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 pm
Performance Dates: Fridays and Saturday, June 29 through July 9, 2012

Now our sixth year, this unique collection of short new plays – one acts and 10 minute plays – will be produced in the Playhouse's 49 seat studio theatre. The plays will feature a wide range of genres and styles, from ranging from comedy to dramatic, realistic to absurd, epic to intimate. Ages 17 and older are encouraged to audition. Some plays may include adult content.




Who Should Audition
Actors looking for a flexible/minimal time commitment studio production
Rehearsal only 2-3 nights per week, except during tech week
Seeking ages 17 thru 70, approximately 8 Men and 8 Women
Need a variety of ethnicity, non-traditional casting may be considered

Solomon The King – Kevin Kautzman (2 M – ages 20 to 50)
two contrast brothers poetically collide in deadly circumstances
Dark Lengths – Stanley Toledo (1 M / 2 W – ages 20 to 40)
a first date gone killer, the mother of jealous son tries to safe her date, who happens to be her boss

Twenty-Three Hundred – Mark Rigney (2 W / 1 M – ages 18 to 40)
an under the drinking age soldier, home from war, tries to purchase a few beers to relax at a convenience store

Many Worlds – Thomas J. Misuraca (2 M / 2 W – ages 20 to 60)
an unhappy older couple create multiple realities as they consider what their life could have been with other spouses

Hollywood Confidential – Shirley King (1 M / 1 W – any age)
an agent of mission control hits a snag in fight the evil Frost Gang as the only volunteer to her aid is an odd super hero

Last Egg – Ron Burch (1 M / 1 W – ages 17 and older)
an excited sperm and cautious egg explore their possible relationship to create a new life

Hooking Up - John Franceschini ( 1 M / 2 W – ages 20 to 40)
an overtime worked secretary sends her co-worker on her blind date to explain the predicament of her not being able to attend

Missed Connection - Marj O'Neill-Butler (1 M / 1 W – ages 20 to 40)
a “missed connection” on craigslist.com produces unexpected relationship

InSex – Jeffery Nueman (1 M / 1 W – ages 17 and older)
two praying mantis battle between love and natural instinct as the female praying mantis wants to kill her male partner and he wishes to love her

Legacy – Chris Shaw Swanson ( 2 M / 1 W – ages 20 to 60)
a woman on death row struggles to prepare her words and considers the words of past death row inmates

Waffles for Breakfast – Jae Kramisen (1 M / 1 W – ages 30 to 50)
husband and wife in a post-apocalyptic world find out what there lives and relationship can survive

SPECIAL Devised Project to be created by
Jeremy Lewis and Cassey Martin (1 actor – any)
this devised theatre project will be created in the rehearsal space and time and will explore the themes of time/memory and the phrase “you will lose you innocence but can not lose the experience of your youth”. Those interested in this project should be an experienced actor and interested in generating original work. All actors involved will be the creators/actors/writers.


Audition Prep
Actors will read select scenes from the scripts
A contemporary comedic or dramatic monologue may be perform, but not required
Bring a comprehensive list on conflicts auditions (see production schedule below)

Performance Information
Rehearsal will begin the week of May 28, 2012
Rehearsal dates and times will be held Monday through Saturday between 5:00 – 11:30pm
Actors will ONLY be called to rehearsal when needed, typically ranging between 2 to 3 nights a week
Four Performances to held on Fridays and Saturdays, June 29 through July 9, 2012
Performances begin at 8:00 pm each night
