More than just pooling resources –
How strategic collaborations can help to advance your nonprofit's mission
KIRTLAND, Ohio –May 15, 2012 – The Lakeland Community College Nonprofit
and Public Service Center presents “Understanding Collaboration” on
Tuesday, May 22 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. on the college's main campus, 7700
Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094, in Building A, room 2100. Networking,
sign-in and a continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m.
In today’s economy, a combination of shrinking resources and rising demand
is forcing all organizations, both public and private, to rethink the way
they do business.
Presenters at this seminar will explain the forces driving organizations
to collaborate and demonstrate how strategic collaborations have helped to
advance the missions of nonprofit organizations, enabling them to better
serve their clients and communities.
David Holmes of the Foundation Center will provide a framework for
considering various collaboration options, outline the key steps for
exploring partnership opportunities, and show how successful relationships
can be forged. Other presenters will provide Northeast Ohio examples and
valuable perspectives on what works -- and what doesn't.
Attendees will hear from Linda Johanek, chief executive officer of the
Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center, a recently merged agency; Joy
Roller, executive director of the Gordon Square Arts District -- a
powerful alliance that has stimulated economic development, arts and
culture, new businesses, jobs, housing, and neighborhood beautification;
and Deborah Vesy, president of the Deaconess Community Foundation and
co-chair of a major philanthropic initiative designed to promote the
restructuring of human services organizations.
To register, visit lakelandcc.edu/ce or call 440-525-7116 and mention
registration number: 12SNPC130.01. The registration fee of $45 includes
