The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival's 15th Season
Opens at Notre Dame College

The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival celebrates its 15th season of providing free, outdoor performances of the works of William Shakespeare to audiences in Northeast Ohio. The Famous Life and History of King Henry the Eighth or All Is True, by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher, directed by David Hansen, opens Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16 on the Quad at Notre Dame College in South Euclid.  Shakespeare’s As You Like It, directed by Dana Hart, will open the following weekend Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23at Notre Dame College.
"The Famous History of the Life of King Henry the Eighth - or - All is True" by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher is one of the Shakespeare canon which few have read and fewer have seen produced. David Hansen's adaptation has reduced the over three hours of text by half, bringing the pure essence of the story to a crisp and entertaining 90 minutes. By seasoning this prime fillet with the contemporary flavor of today's political climate the story becomes not only clearer but more relate-able for today's audiences. Uniquely riveting!
"As You Like It", often referred to as 'Shakespeare's Musical', offers up the perfect dessert for a summer evening! Dana Hart's adaptation is packed full of comparisons and contrasts between men and women, city folk and country, the restive and the forlorn, all topped off with - yes folks - singing and dancing! This delightful romp built around the crazy notion of love at first sight (times four) features some of the Bard's most beloved monologues. It's sure to keep everyone grinning and giggling from start to famous epilogue. Bring someone you love!
