Keith Huff's riveting "A Steady Rain" darkens CVLT's second stage -
    6/20/12

CHAGRIN FALLS, OH /- /The River Street Playhouse, Chagrin Valley Little
Theatre's second stage located in the building they now own at the end
of River Street in Chagrin Falls Village, is often the venue for edgier
and darker material than audiences find on the main stage. Keith Huff's
one-act drama /A STEADY RAIN/, which opens on June 29th, certainly fits
that mold. Breaking records on Broadway when it opened in 2009, /A
STEADY RAIN/ is gritty, savage, and powerful.

Under the experienced direction of CVLT's Kate Tonti, two veteran
policemen describe the events that take place during a seemingly
non-stop period of rain in Chicago. Joey (Tim Walsh) is a single, shy
cop who drowns his problems in alcohol. His partner Denny (Christopher
Crimaldi) is his complete opposite - loud, adulterous, and corrupt. They
describe their self-destructive experience through a combination of
monologues and conversations.

The trouble begins when a pimp shoots out the front window of Denny's
house, critically injuring his son. Denny goes outside of the law for
revenge, taking Joey along for the ugly ride. Later, during a domestic
violence call, they hand over a terrified boy to a man who claims to be
his uncle but turns out to be a serial killer. When their superiors
demand that one of them be held accountable for this egregiously poor
judgement, Denny and Joey find their life-long friendship pushed beyond
the breaking point.

/A STEADY RAIN/ plays on CVLT's River Street Playhouse stage Friday and
Saturday nights at 8 PM, June 29 - July 14. Tickets are $10. This play
contains strong language and adult subject matter, and is therefore not
recommended for young or sensitive audiences.

For tickets and information see Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's website
at www.CVLT.org, or call 440-247-8955 (box office by phone Monday
through Saturday from 1-6 PM). CVLT's main stage and box office are
located at 40 River Street in historic downtown Chagrin Falls.

Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is generously funded by Cuyahoga County
residents through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and is supported by the Ohio
Arts Council.
