TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27 & 28 @ 7:00 PM

Musical Direction by Jesse Martin, Choreography by Michael Lawrence Akers

PERFORMANCE DATES:  November 2-17, 2012  Fridays and Saturdays @ 8 pm.

Music by Duncan Sheik and a Book and Lyrics by Steven Sate

The winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, SPRING AWAKENING
explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with poignancy and
passion you will never forget.  This landmark musical is an electrifying
fusion of morality, sexuality, and rock & roll that has been exhilarating
audiences across the nation like no other musical in years.  Set in
late-19th century Germany, it concerns teenagers who are discovering the
inner and outer tumult of sexuality. The original play was banned in
Germany for some time due to its frank portrayal of abortion,
homosexuality, rape, child abuse and suicide. In the musical, alternative
rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score.

*Please note that all actors will be involved in mature situations.*

WHO:  Strong musical theatre performers aged 18 years old to adult.  (16
or 17-year olds MAY, at the discretion of the director, be considered, if
parents agree to sign a waiver.)

WHEN:  Auditions are TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27 & 28 @ 7:00 PM

WHERE:  Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 West Boardman Street, downtown
Youngstown, OH  44503

WHAT to prepare:

For those auditioning for the children, bring a prepared song, preferably
in the style of the show.  Bring sheet music.  An accompanist will be
provided.  Also, be prepared for a movement audition.  Wear clothing you
can move in.

For those auditioning for the Adult Man and Adult Woman:   Bring a prepared
monologue or be prepared to read from the script.

 REHEARSALS will start September 16.
