The River Street Playhouse, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's second stage
located in the building they now own at the end of River Street in
Chagrin Falls Village, is often the venue for edgier and darker material
than audiences find on the main stage. Keith Huff's one-act drama A
STEADY RAIN, which opens on June 29th, certainly fits that mold.
Breaking records on Broadway when it opened in 2009, A STEADY RAIN is
gritty, savage, and powerful.

Under the experienced direction of CVLT's Kate Tonti, two veteran
policemen describe the events that take place during a seemingly
non-stop period of rain in Chicago. Joey (Tim Walsh) is a single, shy
cop who drowns his problems in alcohol. His partner Denny (Christopher
Crimaldi) is his complete opposite - loud, adulterous, and corrupt. They
describe their self-destructive experience through a combination of
monologues and conversations.

The trouble begins when a pimp shoots out the front window of Denny's
house, critically injuring his son. Denny goes outside of the law for
revenge, taking Joey along for the ugly ride. Later, during a domestic
violence call, they hand over a terrified boy to a man who claims to be
his uncle, but turns out to be a serial killer. When their superiors
demand that one of them be held accountable for this egregiously poor
judgement, Denny and Joey find their life-long friendship pushed beyond
the breaking point.
