*POSITION TITLE:  *RESIDENT COSTUME DESIGNER

The Players Guild Theatre, a professionally staffed, volunteer-based
theatre, seeks a Costumer.  Located within the Cultural Center for the Arts
in Canton, OH, the Players Guild produces a six show season of musicals and
dramas in two theatres; the Mainstage, a proscenium theater which seats
480, and the William G. Fry Theatre, a three-quarter thrust theater which
seats 140.  This position is responsible for all aspects of the costume
department and requires managing the costume shop, maintaining costume
stock, designing all of the productions, building, pulling or renting the
stock as necessary for each production, as well as measuring and fitting
actors.  Expectations include instruction and supervision of shop
volunteers and over-hire, maintaining materials as well as keeping track of
and working within budget.   Qualifications include:  A bachelor’s degree
or equivalent professional experience demonstrating required skills.
Individual
should possess:  strong organizational skills; excellent communication
skills; a calm demeanor; problem solving skills; ability to multitask and
work at a fast pace with minimal supervision; a commitment to excellence
and superior customer service; ability to meet deadlines and work in a high
pressure atmosphere. One or more years of production experience is
preferred.  This position may require working extended hours, some weekends
and evenings.
