Are you interested in movement, imagination, rhythm, improvisation, or all of these? We have a very motivated group of five- and six-year-olds who want to play instruments in a year or so. Many had experience witha Rhythms class as younger children. We are looking for a volunteer who can build on the kids' excitement for music and performing-arts activities, to help them get ready to play an instrument, in a class called Springboard.

The parents are very involved--they tend to watch the early childhood classes, or at least peek in if they're asked to stay out. That backup is a good resource.

The class is also an incubator, and already we have been able to place a six-year-old with an instrument upon the recommendation of the Springboard teacher at the time.

Joyful Noise Neighborhood Music School has given one-on-one music lessons to lower-income children for eight years, with volunteer teachers from twelve municipalities.

Please call (216) 671-5528 or email back if interested.
