Weathervane Playhouse to Present Second Annual Festival of 10 Minute Plays.
Eight Plays, Ten Minutes Each!
(July 5, 2012 - Akron, Ohio – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) Weathervane Playhouse presents its second annual 8x10 TheatreFest on July 13, 14, 15. Playwrights from around the country submitted More than 150, 10 minute plays and eight finalists were chosen. Those eight plays will be presented in three performances over TheatreFest weekend. Guest judges will decide First and Second Place winners and audiences will choose a Fan Favorite. Winners will be announced and cash prizes awarded following Sunday’s matinee performance.
This year’s special challenge for playwrights was to incorporate a special prop into their plays. For 2012, this special prop was a vintage microphone. TheatreFest Coordinator, Eileen Moushey, believes audiences will be surprised and delighted by the clever ways that the mic is used in the plays. “And,” she says, “that’s another way the audience will be directly involved – they will choose next year’s special prop!”
Local playwright Christina Blosco of Norton is among the finalists and very excited to see the “premiere” of her play, Waiting for Baby. The birth of two daughters temporarily sidelined her teaching career – but they also provided her with additional “inspirations” for her play!
